Sumner-Fredericksburg CSD regrets to share that tonight’s (2/25/25) district boys’ basketball game hosted at SFHS between Don Bosco and Maquoketa Valley has been postponed due to a tragic loss within the Don Bosco community. Our thoughts go out to the Dons and the family affected during this incredibly difficult time and we stand with them in support and mourning.
The basketball game will now be played on Wednesday, February 26, at Independence, with a 5:00 PM start time. Tickets purchased for tonight’s game will still be valid. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and compassion.
Cougar events the week of Feb. 24:

Oelwein High School | Sumner-Fredericksburg High School | Tripoli High School SOCCER
If you don’t have a spring sport, consider trying soccer!
High school soccer is a fantastic sport to play because it builds teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness while creating lifelong friendships. The fast-paced nature of the game keeps players engaged, improving their agility, endurance, and strategic thinking. Soccer also fosters a strong sense of school spirit and camaraderie, as players work together toward a common goal. Whether competing in intense matches or bonding during practice, athletes develop valuable life skills such as perseverance and leadership. Plus, the thrill of scoring a goal or making a game-saving play creates unforgettable moments on and off the field. Many fall and winter sports transition well onto the soccer field, including football, basketball, cross-country, and volleyball. Even the grit and determination of wrestling can be adapted to the game of soccer. The full practice and game schedule is available on TeamSnap and Bound. (Bound is currently listed under SFHS Boys Soccer.)
