Sumner-Fredericksburg Student Athletes of the Week: Boys Track Relay Team The 4x200 and 4x400 relays medaled at state and broke four school records. Noah Henderson, Liam Steege, Jace Brinkman, and Tatum Nuss comprised the relay teams. The quartet finished in 6th place in the 4x400, breaking the school record they had previously set in the 4x400 prelims on Friday with a time of 3:25.10. The new school record in the finals came in at 3:22.91. The group had also broken the school record at the State Qualifier Meet the week before with a time of 3:26.13. This hard-working group also finished 8th at state in the 4x200 while setting a new school record of 1:30.24. The Sprint Medley Relay also broke the school record with a time of 1:35.72, finishing 11th in Class 2A. This group has really gelled as a unit. They are extremely coachable and put in a lot of work on their exchanges. The results and medals at state were earned throughout the season through their hard work in practice, positive attitudes, and attention to detail. They pushed the sticks on the exchanges to consistently drop times throughout the year. The trust and belief in each other and in the plan showed at the state meet. The senior leadership of Noah and Tatum was paramount to the success of the relays. They were positive, encouraging, and modeled hard work in practice. This group of four young men definitely left their mark on the Cougar Track and Field program.
