Donna Larson, the founder and podcast host of Rural Revival, was a guest speaker at the Sumner-Fredericksburg High School yesterday for the "Raised to Stay" event. She spends a good part of her time fueling Rural Revival, showcasing the hardworking people who are finding creative ways to do like in rural communities. Local business and community members also collaborated with Data to present their stories to the student body. These members were: Ashley Eckenrod, Marcy Bergman, Holly Schimmel, Randy Smith, Taunya Robertson, Ethan Koch, and Tori Beyer.


Cougar bowling at Thunder Lanes today at 4 PM and Cougar basketball quad today starting at 4 PM at SFHS. Our Cougar wrestlers will be traveling to Union tonight as well, matches start at 6:15 PM. Go Cougars!
Durant 4th graders got a visit from a great horned owl last Monday. Thanks to Angie with Bremer County Conservation, students got to learn more about how the owl uses its senses to survive. Students got to ask questions and had to practice their quiet and calm skills as we got a picture. They certainly got a "hoot" out of this visit!

SFHS Student-Athletes of the Week: Amelia Rader and Sam Egan. Amelia Rader was high for the girls, 276 series leading the girls to a victory over Oelwein. Sam is currently 10-0 in conference matches and 20-6 overall. Congratulations Amelia and Sam!

Reminder: Day 1 of SFMS musical tryouts for NEWSIES will be held after school on Tuesday, Jan. 16 in the vocal room until 5:00.
There will be a shuttle back to Sumner at 6:15. Students will need to watch the game after tryouts.
