The High School SWAT (Student Wellness Advocacy Team) visited FES today. They shared several ideas on what it means "To Be Healthy". They focused on the amount of sugar in pop, why it's important to wash your hands, what Choose My Plate is and food groups, as well as serving sizes. They interacted with the students in small groups or even one-on-one with buddy reads, word scrambles, and making posters.

Miss Fredericksburg, Trinity Brincks, came to FES yesterday to talk to the students about meat and dairy products as well as promote Dairy Days. Little Miss Fredericksburg, Myla Strempke, helped Trinity hand out goodie bags. The sunglasses were a big hit with our students. Thank you, Trinity, for being such a great role model for our students!

The Middle School Strength and Conditioning Program competed in a March Monthly Challenge! Students were in groups of 4 and as a team, had to complete all the tasks (attached picture with the green sheet). The success of the challenge depended on the strategy the team came up with. Athletes had to monitor and hold themselves accountable. Coach Kenan is training them to be honest with themselves by doing all of the reps. This program does more than just lift weights. We are also focusing on working together as a team and being mentally strong. What an awesome group of athletes! Stay tuned for April's Monthly Challenge!

The Pennies for the Pantry Caring Project concluded today at the FES Cougar Way Assembly. Mr. Schmitz came in 2nd place with $338.00 in his container, and 1st place was Mrs. Harkrader with $419.61. The grand total donated to the Fredericksburg Food Pantry was $1,066.89! Donna Schildroth, head of the Fredericksburg Food Pantry, was at the assembly to accept the donation from FES. Thank you to Harold and Karen Lantow for providing the pig for Mrs. Harkrader to kiss. Thank you to all the FES families who donated money to this cause, and special thanks to Peggy Nieman and Kim Hoffman at Northeast Security Bank for counting all that change! The top two containers weighed almost 40 pounds each! It takes a village to provide these experiences for our children, and FES is proud of ours! You can watch Mrs. Harkrader kiss the pig at the following link: https://youtu.be/BWGsJt0y-pE
