This is the last FES post of the week but #1 in our hearts. On Wednesday, we celebrated our paraprofessionals. These ladies work with some of our most challenging students, and they always come to work with a smile on their face. Whatever the task, they are always up for it...even if it means dressing up in costumes to make the days brighter for our students. Thank you for being such a fun group! It was also School Librarian Day on Thursday, so thank you to Mrs. Throckmorton for keeping our libraries well-oiled machines!

MS Families, we have been provided a special opportunity by the Stimson family and Poet Ethanol Plant of Fairbank. They have generously donated solar eclipse glasses (Filters for direct observation of the Sun that meets the Transmission requirements of ISO). We will be viewing the solar eclipse at approximately 2pm on Monday, April 8. Please let the school office know by Monday noon if you do not want your student to participate.

For ENCORE this month students talked about caring. Students decorated cups and teachers filled with treats for the residents at Cobblestone & Hillcrest. Thursday before Easter, students delivered the cups. We dropped them off and waved to residents from the window. We hope they enjoyed our caring gesture! Today, Durant students also met with their reading buddies today for Caring School Community!

Today, after student dismissal it was discovered that a note was found in a classroom that made a threat to the building. There is no way to know how long the note was there or who wrote the note.
As a precaution, Sumner PD and Bremer County Sheriff along with school staff walked through the building and there was nothing out of the ordinary.
We take the safety of students, staff, and community seriously, and appreciate all the support of the community.

Besides teaching the FES students what it means to be healthy, the High School SWAT also ate lunch, went out for recess, and played in PE class with the elementary students. The FES students loved spending the day with the "big kids". Thank you to Mrs. Jones, high school Health instructor, for setting this day up with us, and thank you to the wonderful high school students for working (and playing!) so well with our FES students.
