Today, the 6th grade students took a trip to Decorah, Iowa. Students learned about Norwegian immigration to Northeast Iowa at the Vesterheim Museum, ate lunch at Phelps Park, and hiked up Dunning's Springs. They also enjoyed ice cream from the Sugar Bowl and the Fish Hatchery.

The Cougar girls' golf team did it again! They punched their ticket to play at the State golf meet next week. Go Cougars!

The 7th Graders had the opportunity to collaborate with Fredericksburg Elementary's 3rd and 4th Grade classes this morning. We were able to read the fiction and poetry stories that we had published to each other.

MS helps their community by planting and cleaning up on Monday, May 13.

Every year, third-grade at FES celebrates Poetry Cafe Day. Mrs. Boltz magically turns their desks into a fancy banquet table, and she serves snacks. The students share their poetry books that they have written. Mrs. Boltz is a gem of a teacher, and we thank her for working so hard to inspire a love of writing into our students!

FES 3rd grade students, Coy Brinkman, Eben Brincks, and Grayson Fayer, have been taking good care of our butterfly garden. They spend their precious recess time doing some weeding.

FES would like to announce the National Association of Conservation District Poster Contest winners. For Grades K-1, Cora Steege was first, Mila Wendland was second, and Remi Petersen was third. For Grades 2-3, Charli Hesse was first, Lyndee Westin was second, and Eben Brincks was third. For Grades 4-6, Charlotte Anderson was first and Lucille Kleiss was second. Great job!

What an awesome spring concert K-2 put on this year! Thank you to Mr. Jurgenson and the students for all of their hard work!

Ms baseball announcement! No practice today, Tuesday May 14, due to unforeseen circumstances.

DES kindergarteners wrote letters to the preschool kids telling them what to look forward to next year!
