Yesterday, FES went to the high school for a pep rally to get our teams fired up for postseason competition. Students loved shouting out by grade, "V-I-C-T-O-R-Y...that's our Cougar battle cry!" The FES trio of Schmitz, Njus, and Hammond came out victorious in the Minute to Win It challenge of being the first team to use a whole roll of toilet paper to create a T.P. Mummy. FES wishes all the best to our high school teams...Power comes from the UNITY of the pack...may the COUGAR PACK be mighty!

Reminder MS winter activities meeting tonight in the main gym at 6pm.

Cougar Nation, it’s time to rally!
Let’s send off our football team in style. Plan to gather Friday at 3p in the High School parking lot to wish our Cougar players and coaches goodluck as they travel to Dyersville for first round of playoffs. Send-off at 3:30p.
Kickoff at 7p.
Let’s go Cougars!

"There's No Place Like...Fredericksburg Elementary!" This was the idea Mrs. Hammond had for a shirt design for all FES staff and students to go along with our Wizard of Oz theme this year. She partnered with our awesome art teacher, Mrs. Owen, who used her graphic design skills to make this idea come to life. A huge thank you to Mrs. Owen! When we handed out the shirts today, a third-grade student said, "This shirt makes us feel like a family." Yes, indeed, FES is a family.

Many thanks to the parents who helped us "Stock the Lounge" at Durant and to Excelerating Sumner for bringing in supper for the staff who stayed for conferences last night. It is very much appreciated.

Thank you to the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church for providing FES and the Middle School supper during Parent-Teacher Conferences tonight. It was delicious and easy to grab between conferences. This was so kind of you and much appreciated!

7th and 8th grade student council members attended a Leadership Summit at Upper Iowa University!

SFHS Student-Athlete of the Week: Rylee Shonka and Noah Henderson.
"Rylee has been a key performer as one of our top runners, consistently proving to be a vital asset for the Cougars this season. Her hard work, determination, and leadership have played an important role in our team’s overall success." -Coach Jones
“Noah has demonstrated exceptional dedication to improving his football skills but more importantly stepping up as a strong leader for the team. His hard work and commitment have led to tremendous success in all three phases of the game this fall, making him a key contributor for the Cougars.” -Coach Coyle

It's National School Bus Safety Week! (Oct 21-25)
This week, Sumner-Fredericksburg Schools is highlighting how seriously we take student & staff safety on our buses! We'll be sharing safety tips, fun facts, and even some stats about our SFCSD Transportation system. ✨
Did you know? School buses are the safest way to get kids to school, but dangers still exist. Between 2000-2022, nearly half of fatalities involving illegal passing of a stopped bus were pedestrians under 18!
Here's a refresher on Iowa's stopping laws for school buses:
See amber lights flashing? Slow down and prepare to stop, regardless of your direction of travel. If you are coming up behind a bus, it is illegal to pass the bus when lights are activated.
Red lights and stop arm extended? It's illegal to pass in ANY direction!
Bus drivers report violations, and law enforcement issues citations. The District utilizes cameras to assist in identification of violations.
Let's all work together to keep our kids safe! We'll share more resources throughout the week. Check out the Iowa DOT for detailed info: [link to iowadot.gov/schoolbus]

It’s a BIG week for Cougar postseason events and we need YOU in the stands to cheer on OUR Cougars! Fill the stands with your family and friends, wear your Cougar gear, and come ready to cheer! Be LOUD and PROUD and show our teams how much they mean to us. GO COUGARS!

See you next week at the Book Fair!

FES 3rd graders would like to thank the Fredericksburg Fire Department for the cool water bottles! We appreciate everything you do in our community.

This morning Durant students had the opportunity to tie-dye shirts with their Cougar Dens! A huge thank you to everyone who donated white shirts. Because of you, all students and staff were able to tie-dye a shirt to wear! We are looking forward to wearing these shirts during ENCORE assemblies throughout the school year!
