Good afternoon S-F parents & families, Unfortunately, the gas leak on the east side of Sumner is not fixed. The city blocks from 1st street to 7th street east of Railroad remain closed. However, 1st street (Hwy 93) is open all through town. S-F students normally dropped off at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sumner will be dropped off at the SEMS building. Parents of these students will need to pick them up in the parking lot to the east of the SEMS building. * Parents picking up: Please come in the EAST entrance off of Hwy 93 and exit to the SOUTH to keep the traffic moving. Adults will be at the SEMS building for students who normally walk from St. John's and whose parents cannot immediately pick them up. Thank you! Kevin Seney S-F Supt. of Schools

Good afternoon S-F parents & families, Due to the natural gas leak on the east side of Sumner, we've changed our afternoon plans for our Homecoming Assembly. Durant Elem., Fredericksburg Elem., & S-F Middle School will not be attending the Homecoming Assembly today and will be dismissed at regular times. S-F High School students will have the Homecoming Assembly and dismiss school after it is finished (approximately 2:30). Our goal is to keep students in school for as long as we can to give Black Hills energy time to fix the gas leak so that we can run normal bus drop-offs at that end of town and ensure the evacuation order has been lifted. The S-F school district will not want to drop students off in the evacuation zone. If the leak is not fixed by the time we dismiss students, we will send out alternative drop-off locations for students who normally get off at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sumner. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we've navigated what might be the strangest Homecoming Week in S-F history. Take care, Kevin Seney S-F Supt. of Schools

Due to unforeseen circumstances there will not be a homecoming parade today. The pep rally will be high school students only, however, adult attendance is still welcome. The pep rally will start at 1:15 in the blue gym and will be live streamed on the Hudl Fan app.

Durant Elementary is currently sheltering in place due to a gas line break on the east end of town. We have windows closed and students are staying inside the building. The local fire department and a city employee have been through the building and outside have not detected any gas in our area. We will continue to monitor the situation. We will still attend the pep rally at the high school at 1:00 if we continue to have no gas detected and the evacuation zone remains the same. Please contact the school if you have any questions or plan to pick up your student.

We regret to inform you that, due to uncontrollable circumstances, the Freshman football game scheduled for this Friday has been canceled. This decision was not made lightly, as we have worked diligently to find a way to make the game happen. We understand how much our students, families, and fans, especially during Homecoming week, look forward to these events. However, the well-being and competition for our student-athletes are always our top priorities, and we believe this is the best decision under the circumstances. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and continued support. Go Cougars!
