Some Fredericksburg residents got surprises on their doorstep yesterday thanks to the kids at Fredericksburg Elementary. As part of our focus on Citizenship this month, students decorated and delivered May Day boxes. The kids and teachers had a great time driving around Fredericksburg, ringing doorbells and trying to get away without being caught delivering the surprise. The big yellow bus may have been a clue and the kids had a blast!

Durant Elementary had their ENCORE Assembly for April. We celebrated April Birthdays, Mr. Meyer's class reviewed the Pillars of Character, and Mr. Jurgenson led us in the school song.

FES had their April Cougar Way Assembly. This month's focus was Citizenship. The teachers performed a skit showing 2 students who were good citizens at school. There were also two students who were NOT being good citizens, so the Citizenship Cop came and explained the rules of being a good citizen in class, in the hallway, in the bathroom, and at lunch. We also celebrated April birthdays and STAR students.

Students in Kindergarten wrote letters to the PK classes. They wrote about coming to kindergarten and what to expect. Students then read the letters to a preschool partner and shared other facts about kindergarten.

Three Freshmen, Jamie Jones, Avery Werner, and Grace Arthur all came to share their knowledge and experience about proper pet care. They share their rabbits, ducks, and chickens. They discussed many interesting features and facts about these animals from their physical features, how to care for them, food, and the many different traits that make them unique. This was awesome! Thank you so much!

Fredericksburg Elementary 1st graders went on a field trip Thursday. We spent the morning at Twin Ponds Nature Center. We began the day looking at the different types of wildlife the Nature Center exhibited. We looked at buffalo, coyotes, snakes, swans, and turtles. Next, we went on a hike around the ponds. There was a big hill we all raced up right next to the first pond. We continued our journey to the second pond, where we saw two trumpeter swans, and a few geese. We made our way back to the Nature Center where we played on the playground. There was a fun obstacle course with logs. Then, we loaded up the bus and drove to Mikkelson Park in New Hampton where we ate our lunch. We enjoyed a fun recess at Mikkelson Park before loading the bus to come back to Fredericksburg Elementary. It was a great day!

Durant Elementary 4th grade students visited the Osborne Nature Center Thursday.
