SFHS XC will practice at 6 AM this week. SFHS FB will practice 6:30-8:30 PM Tues & Wed. FB will be shortened, pads and activities limited for practice. Additional water breaks and Gatorade recovery stations will be utilized. FB will also utilize our indoor facilities as needed.
MS XC athletes will still have practice starting at 6:15am aug 24&25. Sumner XC meet at tennis courts and F’burg XC meet in front of MS.
MS FB will only have practice on Thur-only handing out equipment-Thur Aug 24 right after dismissal and shuttle will be back at Hs around 2:15.
Due to updated NOAA forecasts, S-F will dismiss on a 3-hr. early out schedule on Wednesday, Aug. 23, and Thursday, Aug. 24. School lunches will be served to students both days. A reminder that students can bring water bottles to school to stay hydrated.
SF Cougar's Friday night varsity football game at East Buchanan, Winthrop has been changed to a 7:30 PM start time.
A reminder that the 2023-24 school year will start on Wednesday, August 23. We already have a 2-hr. early out scheduled for Wednesday through Friday. This will help with the forecasted heat index on those days.

Sumner-Fred Cross Country will NOT be competing in the Ed-Co meet tomorrow. Our runners will be in action Aug. 29 at Oelwein.

This Friday August 18th: Fall Sport scrimmages at SFHS. Cross Country will run at 3:30, Volleyball will start and 4 PM and Football will scrimmage Maquoketa Valley at 5:30 PM. GO COUGARS!
High School Soccer Event
If you think you might be interested in playing high school soccer in the spring, your team for Tripoli, Sumner-Fredericksburg, and Oelwein is Northeast Iowa United (NEIU); coached by Kimberlea Baker.
Anyone returning or who might be interested in joining the team, please join Coach Baker, if you are available, at Harms-Eischeid Stadium in Fayette next week to enjoy the following college soccer scrimmages:
Tues 8/22 @ 3pm Men’s Soccer UIU vs Wartburg
Fri 8/25 @ 7:30pm Women’s Soccer UIU vs Luther
Wear your NEIU or other HS fan apparel if you have it. Your family is invited as well. No concessions are available because these are scrimmages. Bring snacks if you want them.

Welcome Our New High School Counselor!!
Hello! My name is Amanda Herold, I am excited to be working as the new High School Counselor! I am originally from Forest City, IA, I received my bachelor's degree from Iowa State University, and I am currently enrolled in the Master's of School Counseling program at Upper Iowa University.
Besides being excited for the school year to start, I am also excited to be getting married on September 2nd! When I'm not working or studying you can find me spending time with my family and friends, reading a book, walking, or spending time with my border collie pup Otis.
I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Sumner-Fredericksburg community, I look forward to getting to know everyone!
The new greenhouse at the high school is coming together. This will be a great opportunity for our kids. A HUGE thank you to those that donated funds to make it possible.
