Our FCCLA chapter also earned its first banner for being recognized as a Gold Level Honor Chapter. This is a HUGE accomplishment for the chapter and its members! 🏅
Students in Algebra 1 took part in an activity to study the successive bounce heights of balls, modeling the relationship between the number of bounces and bounce heights. They used the model to answer questions about the ball’s bounciness.
Students discovered that it is an exponential function to model the situation that involves exponential decay!
Since the first-graders donated the most money to the Pennies for the Pantry Caring Project, Miss Njus got silly stringed today at the FES Cougar Way Assembly. Each first-grader got a can of silly string and was able to spray the teacher! Thank you to Miss Njus for being a good sport!
The Pennies for the Pantry Caring Project concluded today at the FES Cougar Way Assembly. Mr. Schmitz came in 3rd place with $251.38, Miss Henniges came in 2nd place with $305.49, and 1st place went to Miss Njus with $443.42 in her container. The grand total donated to the Fredericksburg Food Pantry was $1,184.21! Donna Schildroth, head of the Fredericksburg Food Pantry, was at the assembly to accept the check from FES. Thank you to all the FES families who donated money to this cause, and special thanks to Northeast Security Bank for counting all the change! We also celebrated Star Cougars and March/June Birthdays.

We had some Den challenges today as a part of ENCORE. The teacher were challenged first but were not to be outdone by the students. We had a great time!

Durant students had ENCORE today. We celebrated our Super Cougars and the Purple Den who had the most Den Points this month.
The top five academic students from each school in the North Iowa Cedar League were honored Monday night at a banquet in Cedar Falls! 🏆
SFHS Principal Bruce Wall presented Chloe Bolte, Amelia Rader, Riley Richmond, Leah Rucker, and Lindsay Taplin their awards.

With just over two months left in the school year, we want to remind our students and families of the importance of consistent attendance. S-F Families and kids do a great job of getting to school - we're up to 97.6% average daily attendance this year compared to 94.9% last year!
Here are some tips:
✅Set a consistent bedtime and morning routine
✅Speak with your kids about what they’re learning in school
✅Have a backup plan for getting to school each day

Mrs. Harkrader's kindergarten class has spent this month reading 16 different books in their March Madness tournament. Today was the championship match between The Legend of Rock Paper Scissors and Dragons Love Tacos. After viewing both books our class voted (13-3) that The Legend of Rock Paper Scissors is the Champion!

This is the last week for Pennies for the Pantry at FES. The silly string is ready to go...which teacher will get sprayed? Will it be Mrs. Boltz? Or maybe Mr. Schmitz? We will find out at our March Cougar Way Assembly next Monday!
The Middle School P.E. students have been actively participating in a variety of activities throughout the year. Recently, we began our archery unit. A special thank you to Matt Crayne of Chickasaw County Conservation for spending the time teaching our students archery safety and skills, along with providing equipment necessary for class. The students are very grateful for the opportunity to participate in this fun activity each year.
Our HS Biology students have been taking part in a variety of activities, including research on different proteins. Students then engaged in a “protein speed dating” activity for Valentine’s Day, looking for similarities and differences between proteins.🔬❤️
In another activity, students simulated how enzymes can speed up reactions, as well as factors that can slow down reactions. They did this by flipping pennies under different conditions.
And, students got the opportunity to extract DNA from a strawberry mixture. They observed that DNA can be seen by the human eye—and it looks similar to snot! 😂
