Congratulations to Mr. Rochford, one of our "Above & Beyond" recipients at our March Bd. Meeting , for his exceptional technology support and dedication! Mr. Rochford demonstrates a commitment to the S-F district, consistently being "on call" and providing support across multiple buildings and departments at all hours. His dedication extends beyond regular hours, as he readily responds to calls and resolves issues even during time off, weekends, and vacations. Notably, he played a vital role in restoring district-wide internet access, providing clear communication and effective solutions during a recent internet outage. Mr. Rochford consistently responds to requests with a positive attitude and encouraging messages, making everyone feel valued. He also provides technology support for athletic events and other after-school activities, and significantly revamped the district's website, improving page layout and content. All Day 4 Year Preschool Programming
* Our district is exploring the possibility of offering 4 year preschool all day to families who would like that option. Currently, our 4 year olds have the option to attend ½ day in the morning or ½ day in the afternoon.
* Many other districts surrounding us have this option and charge families for the extra ½ day of programming to cover the additional costs and Sumner-Fredericksburg would do the same, but keep it as affordable as possible.
* If you have a student who is ready for 4 year old preschool, please help us by filling out this brief survey to help us gather information that will help inform our programming options for 2025-26. We had some visitors come to the 7th & 8th grade Careers class last week. High school seniors Noah, Gracie and Emerson are helping prep the class for their upcoming Mock Interviews. Sergeant KJ Miller spoke to the 7th grade Careers class about the day in the life of a police officer.
Student Council hosted a skating party at the middle school last Friday! We had a great turn out and the kids had a lot of fun!

During the month of March, FES will be focusing on the CARING character pillar. For our Caring Project, we want students and staff to bring in spare change that will be donated to the Fredericksburg Food Pantry. Each classroom teacher will have a container. The teacher who has the most money in his or her container will get silly-stringed by his or her students at our next assembly! Students and staff may bring in spare change as often as they want from March 10-March 28th.
FES students did an awesome job making their Wizard of Oz masks to wear during our reading party today!
FES 3rd and 4th graders went bowling today to celebrate making our reading goal. K-2 grades had a reading party back at the school. They were divided into 6 teams and rotated to 6 different stations. They made Wizard of Oz masks, had a dance party, blew bubble wands, played Wizard of Oz Bingo, did a scooter race to get the Witch's broom, and made a witch hat snack.
FES had its reading party today since the students made their reading goal for the month of February. A huge thank you to The Women of Fredericksburg for donating awesome prize bags for our students who showed RESPONSIBILITY during the month of February by turning in their weekly reading slips. Another huge thank you to the United Methodist Church of Fredericksburg for donating a book for every child in Preschool through Grade 4. We appreciate the support of our community..."There's No Place Like Fredericksburg!"

8th grade science students applied their knowledge of force and motion to design and construct an egg holder to protect their egg from an initial drop of 8.5 feet. Those who made it through Round 1 moved on to Round 2, where they dropped their egg from a height of 23 feet. Students used planning and budgeting skills along the way to "purchase" materials from Mrs. Rucker's store to make their designs. We had several groups come away with unscathed eggs from the impressive 23 foot drop!
FES had its Cougar Way Assembly yesterday. In the skit, Dorothy, Scarecrow, and Tin Man decided to go to see the Wizard to ask for Dorothy's ruby red shoes back, a math brain for Scarecrow, and a reading heart for Tin Man. On the way to Emerald City, the Tin Man was "rusty" from not practicing reading during Reading is Fun month, and he couldn't read the signs warning them of falling rocks and to beware of lions. The Lion appeared and tried fighting the Scarecrow and Tin Man. When the Lion tried biting Toto, Dorothy slapped him, and he started crying. Dorothy said he was nothing but a coward, and the Lion told her that he had no courage. The Lion said he could read and do math, but he was scared to get up in front of people because he had no courage. He showed her the Smokey the Bear commercial and said that it was supposed to be Smokey the Lion who taught others about preventing forest fires, but on the day of the commercial, he got too nervous and couldn't do it, so they hired the bear instead. Lion said his life has been unBEARable ever since. Dorothy invited the Lion to join them and ask the Wizard for some courage so that he could be the King of the Forest again.
