FES had its November Cougar Way Assembly today. In the skit, Dorothy decided to be RESPECTFUL and help Scarecrow with her math problems. Then, Dorothy started reading The Wonderful Wizard of Oz book from her book box. Dorothy and Scarecrow both got the idea to go to Emerald City and ask the Wizard for Dorothy's ruby red shoes back and a math brain for Scarecrow. On their way in the dark forest, the Wicked Witch came out and threw fire flames at Scarecrow. The Wicked Witch showed Dorothy that she was the one who stole her shoes and said now she wanted her little dog, too! The Wicked Witch started chasing Dorothy and Scarecrow trying to steal Toto. They found a hiding place, and the skit ended with the Wicked Witch saying, "I'll get you my pretty, and your little dog, too!" We discussed recess scenarios and how to show respect to our peers. We also celebrated November birthdays and Star Cougars.

Congratulations to our November Star Cougars at FES! You make us PROUD! Keep showing the Cougar Way every day!

SFHS Staff had a little Thanksgiving fun this week!

Happy Thanksgiving from MS tag! We got to visit FES for reading buddies and had some great games and read aloud to them before break. Ask your student from Ms Henniges or Mrs Mizer's classes about Huckle Buckle Beanstalk!

FES students earned a Cougar Way Reward yesterday. It was called "The Great Turkey Hunt of '24." Mrs. Hammond hid 12 mini turkeys around the playground, and each class signed up for a hunt time. The class that could find the 12 turkeys the fastest would earn an extra recess with Mrs. Hammond next week. The 2nd grade class was the only class to find all 12 turkeys in the 20 minute time limit. Cooper Fountain was the only hunter to find Turkey #8!

Basketball and wrestling shirt orders are in. You may pick them up form the SFHS office.

SFMS participated in a Food Drive for our local food pantry, bringing in a total of 564 items! Mrs. Sorenson's Homeroom won the competition by bringing in the most items!

Dear Parents and Students,
Please be advised of the following important changes:
Parking:
Effective immediately, please do not park on the street east of Sumner-Fredericksburg Middle School.
Parking in this area is restricted due to being a loading zone for our Middle School students and our buses need to be able to park their to avoid having students load in the roadway
St. John's Bus Stop in Sumner:
Starting Thursday, November 21, 2024, the St. Johns bus stop in Sumner will be picked up on 2nd Street.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to St. Johns for their generous partnership in allowing us to utilize their parking lot. Their support is invaluable to our school community.
As the days are getting shorter and the mornings are getting darker, please remember to stay on the sidewalk and off the street. This is especially important for students walking to school, as it can be difficult for drivers to see pedestrians in low-light conditions.
As we utilize the St. John's parking lot, please remember to be good stewards and park responsibly. Additionally, we kindly remind all students to park their bikes in the designated bike rack.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Trey Myers
Transportation Director

Congratulations to Alicia Jones on being named the 2A At-Large Cross Country Coach of the Year! Well done, Coach Jones! You've made your team, school, and community proud.

Cougar Football Awards Night. Sunday Nov. 24 @ 7pm at SFHS Auditorium.

In Mrs. Kenan's 6th grade math class, students dove into the world of measurement! Students explored standard units of length, volume, weight, and mass by measuring different objects in a fun, hands-on environment! This type of learning encourages critical thinking and helps students apply their math skills to real-world situations.

The Turkey Valley – Sumner Fredericksburg Trap Shooting Team will be holding meetings for the upcoming Spring 2025 season. Today FES students made posters and cards for Mrs. Brunner because she has been on sick leave. Then, students and staff walked to her house to sing "You Are My Sunshine" while holding up their posters. Julie, we miss you so much, and this place isn't the same without you! We can't wait for your return!
