**🚌Please note that the activity shuttle providing transportation from the high school back to the middle school does not run every day and the schedule changes every week. If you require a ride back to Fredericksburg after practices, be sure to check the weekly schedule. On the days the shuttle operates, it typically departs the high school at 5:30 PM. On all other days, students are responsible for securing their own transportation home.

🎨 SFHS Art Show Winners!

A huge congratulations to all the talented artists who participated in yesterday’s 2026 SFHS Art Show! The gym was filled with incredible creativity, and our judges had a tough task. Please join us in celebrating this year’s top honorees:

  • Best of Show: Congratulations to Emery Meier (3D) for an exquisite clay sculpture and Shane Warnke (2D) for a stunning pencil drawing.

  • Pottery: 1st Place goes to Greg Baker, followed by Grady Westendorf (2nd) and Lincoln Holtz (3rd).

  • Sculpture: A sweep for the clay figures! Talon Oden took 1st Place, while Rocky Collazo impressed the judges to take home both 2nd and 3rd Place honors.

  • 2-D Drawing & Painting: Grady Westendorf secured 1st Place, with Cody Cahoy in 2nd and Jamie Jones in 3rd.

  • Crafts/Mixed Media: 1st Place was awarded to Dayton Larson, 2nd to Gabe Hruska, and 3rd to Axle Zmoos.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our fine arts department. Way to go, Cougars!

  • It was a dominant weekend on the green for our Cougar Girls Golf team! On Friday, the Cougars hosted the Cougar Classic, securing a 1st place team finish over South Hardin and Mason City. Our athletes absolutely swept the leaderboard, taking four of the top five individual spots: Kylee led the pack in 1st place with an 83, followed by Greyson in 2nd (87), Katherine in 3rd (92), and Claire in 5th (101). The winning streak continued into Saturday at the Decorah Quade, where the Cougars again finished in 1st place against Waukon, Decorah, and Crestwood. Leading the charge was Kylee as the runner-up medalist with an 88, followed closely by Katherine and Greyson, who tied for 3rd and 4th with twin scores of 89. Rounding out the strong team performance were Claire in 14th and Addison in 16th. Congratulations on an incredible weekend of golf, ladies!

  • It’s a fun-filled Monday for Cougar athletics! Our boys golf team hits the links today as they travel to Sunnyside Golf & Country Club to take on Columbus Catholic; golfers, please remember you are dismissed at 9:50 AM. Meanwhile, the girls track team heads to the Community Dreams complex for the Ed-Co Girls Track Invitational. Track athletes will be released at 2:35 PM. Good luck to all our competitors—let’s go, Cougars! 

  • Wrestling coaches are hosting a meeting today during homebase in the gold gym. Make sure you check into homebase before you go.

  • There will be a Girls Basketball Spring/Summer Planning meeting on Wednesday during homebase in the library. 

  • Are you ready to bring the spirit this upcoming season? Sign-ups for 2026 Fall Football Cheer have officially been sent to your school email accounts! If you are interested in joining the squad, please make sure to fill out the linked Google Form as soon as possible. Be sure to keep a close eye on your inbox for further details regarding upcoming meetings. Don't miss your chance to support the Cougars on the sidelines! 

  • Seniors Announcements:

    • 🎉9 days of school left!🥳

    • All library materials must be returned by next Wednesday, May 6th! Get those books turned in to avoid fees. If you have any outstanding library books or unpaid fees or negative lunch balances, you will not be allowed to walk at graduation!

  • Library materials for everyone else are due back by May 13th!

  • Applications for Chickasaw County Fair Queen are available at the office. The deadline for submitting applications is June 1. This is a scholarship opportunity.

  • Applications for Fayette County Fair Queen are now being accepted. You do not need to be a resident of Fayette County to enter. This is a scholarship opportunity.

  • The Sumner Area Swim Team (SAST) is having a meeting at the Sumner Public Library on May 7th at 6 PM. For more details, check out their Facebook page or contact Ann at (319) 240-9293.

  • 🫗Restored Nutrition in Sumner is offering a Student/Staff discount on Mondays!

  • Drivewise is offering spring drivers ed classes. Sign up at Drivewise.co or call 641-529-2005. 

  • Summer Driver Education class through Homesafe Driving School is now open for registration.  Registration can be found at homesafedrivered.com/classes.  Class will run from May 13th through June 27th.  This class is limited to 16 students. 📵 Classroom Phone Policy

  • Phones must be put away in the designated class holder at the beginning of the period and should not be taken out until the class is over.

  • Phones are not permitted for use during instructional time—period.

What Happens if the Policy is Violated?

  • 1st Time: Phone is immediately taken and held at the Main Office. You can pick it up yourself when school is dismissed.

  • 2nd Time: Phone is immediately taken. The Main Office will call your parent or guardian who must come to the school to collect it.

  • 3rd Time: Phone is immediately taken. Your parent or guardian must collect it. You will also be required to check your phone into the Main Office every morning and pick it up only after your last class for a period of time.

Parking Reminders:

  • All students who drive to school must have a visible parking permit in any vehicle they might drive to school. Parking permits are available at the high school office after filling out the google form for vehicle registration.

  • Students caught parking in the staff parking or in a no-parking zone will be fined; 1st violation=warning, 2nd violation=$5 fine, 3rd violation=$10 fine, 4th violation=On-school grounds parking privileges revoked.

  • No parking at Meadowbrook Golf & Country Club. Violators are subject to ticketing/towing
