  • It's Teacher Appreciation Week, and we want to give a HUGE shout out to the incredible educators who dedicate their hearts and minds to our students every single day! Your passion for teaching, your unwavering support, and your tireless efforts create a positive and inspiring learning environment. You go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of our students, fostering their growth, sparking their curiosity, and empowering them to reach their full potential. From guiding classroom discussions to offering extra help, you are the backbone of our school community. Thank you for your commitment, your creativity, and your care. We appreciate you more than words can say!

  • The Sumner-Fredericksburg track & field teams had a successful Friday night! The boys' team showcased their speed and strength at Starmont, finishing strong in 4th place out of ten competing schools. Highlights included first-place finishes for Tatum N in the 200 Meters, the dynamic 4x200 Relay team (Henderson, Steege, Brinkman, and Nuss), and Trask in the Shot Put. The boys also secured second in the 4x400 Relay (Jones, Henderson, Steege, Nuss) and third in the 100 Meters (Steege), the 4x800 Relay (Ta Rochford, Wurzer, Meyer, Britt), the Distance Medley (Land, Rucker, Schoonover, Leete), and Wilharm in Discus. Meanwhile, the girls' team delivered an impressive performance at North Butler, earning 3rd place overall, also out of ten teams. First-place honors went to B Uhlenhopp in the 3000 Meters, B Suckow in the 200 Meters, and both the 4x200 and 4x400 Relays (Judisch, Schoonover, Steege, and B. Suckow). The 4x800 Relay team (Snyder, Vsetecka, K. Suckow, and Pitz) also took top honors. K Suckow earned second place in the 1500 Meters, and the Sprint Medley Relay team (Judisch, Schoonover, B. Suckow, and Steege) also finished second. Congratulations to both teams on their outstanding efforts!

  • TAG students, Ms. Franzen will be here today until 11:30.

  • ✏️Do you have extra school supplies that you don't need for next year? Ms. Hoeger is collecting donations of used school supplies. This includes folders, binders, pencils, half used notebooks and more! Drop off any supplies in room 108. These materials will be redistributed to students and staff next school year.✂️

  • Student Senate and Class Officers petitions are at the office.  If you are interested in running for either position you need to pick up and complete a petition by Tuesday May 6 (student senate) or Wednesday May 7 (class officer).  Following the instructions on the petition.  Voting will occur Thursday May 8 (student senate) and Friday May 9 (class officer). If you have any questions please ask Mrs. Bolte.

  • Calling all artists! Showcase your talent at the High School Art Show on Sunday, May 11th, before the Senior Awards. Bring this year’s masterpieces to Mr. Leete for display! Don't miss this chance to shine!

  • All library books must be returned by Monday, May 12th. Inventory will begin May 14th. Seniors, all library books must be returned or fees will be added to your account and must be paid before graduation or you will not be allowed to walk at commencement!

  • 🚫Attention students: Parking enforcement is now in effect. Illegally parked vehicles will be ticketed, and fines will be added to your school fees. All outstanding fees must be paid by the end of the school year to participate in graduation. Three or more parking violations will result in the loss of on-campus parking privileges.

  • Driver’s Education Courses: Students interested in taking Driver's Ed may register through Homesafe Driving School LLC for spring classes. At the top of the website, go to "Classes" and you can see winter options for classes in Waverly or if you scroll down, you'll see an option for May 14th in Sumner.🚗

  • Hawkeye Community College is offering driver’s ed. An informational flier can be found at the office.

  • Homebase Reminder: Check in with your homebase teacher before going to Cougar Time or any other homebase activities. Failure to do so will result in an unexcused absence.

  • 💻Please be sure you are checking your emails daily. You may be missing important information from your teachers and school administration.

  • Energy Drinks: A reminder that our school's health and wellness policy limits caffeine in beverages to 100mg. Please avoid bringing drinks exceeding this limit to school. These drinks include 12oz. Alani Energy (200mg), 16oz. Monster Energy(160mg), 12oz. Celsius(200+mg), and similar products. READ THE LABELS!

  • Fayette Co. Fair Queen: Applications for Fayette Co. Fair Queen are now open until June 30th. You do not need to be a resident of Fayette County to run. Candidates must be between 16 and 21 years old as of August 7, 2025. This is a wonderful scholarship opportunity. Please see the attached flier for more information.

  • Applications to run for Miss Fredericksburg are now open and are due May 5th. You must be 16 years old by August 1, 2025 and have a Fredericksburg address. The position comes with a $750 scholarship. Contact Marie with any questions. 319-240-4929

  • Lifeguards Wanted:Sumner Family Aquatic Center is looking for lifeguards! 

    • Training reimbursement! Training dates are available to choose from (but act quickly before they are no longer available)

Parking Reminders:

  • All students who drive to school must have a visible parking permit in any vehicle they might drive to school. Parking permit applications are available in the office. If you get a different vehicle, you need to update your parking permit.

  • Sophomore/Freshman lot-Northwest side of the building

  • Junior/Senior lot-South lot across the street

  • Senior lot-East side of the median on the east side of the building

    • NO PARKING EAST OF THE BLUE GYM, INCLUDING THE CURB BY THE GOLF COURSE. NO EXCEPTIONS!

  • Students caught parking in the staff parking or in a no-parking zone will be fined; 1st violation=$5, 2nd violation=$10, 3rd violation=On-school grounds parking privileges revoked.

  • No parking at Meadowbrook Golf & Country Club. Violators are subject to ticketing/towing
