  • Congratulations to the 2025 Engineering Machine Design Contest Champions: Connor K, Hunter N, Ellie S, Teagan W, Joe K, Eli P, and Noah P! These students competed against large and small schools from Wisconsin and Minnesota in the Engineering Machine Design Contest on Friday, after qualifying by winning the Iowa Regional in St. Ansgar. They worked hard and overcame many challenges throughout the day, and through their perseverance and determination, they took home the Most Innovative Step Award and won the entire competition, making them the 2025 EMDC Champions! Congratulations!

  •  Let's give a big Cougar congratulations to our track teams for their outstanding performances at NFV on Friday night! The Boys' Track team had a fantastic showing, finishing in 3rd Place overall. They dominated the relay events, taking 1st Place in the 4x100 (Henderson, Steege, Brinkman, Nuss), 4x200 (Henderson, Steege, Brinkman, Nuss), 4x400 (Henderson, Brinkman, Steege, Nuss), and Distance Medley (Land, Rucker, Schoonover, Leete). We also had strong individual performances with Gavin T earning 2nd in Shot Put, Owen S taking 2nd in the 400 Meter Hurdles, and 3rd place finishes for the Sprint Medley team (Henderson, Rucker, Brinkman, Schoonover), Kallen W in Discus, and Jace H in the 400 Meters. 

  • The Cougar Girls also had a successful night, securing 5th Place as a team. Leading the way with 1st place finishes were Braelyn S in the 200 Meters and the 4x200 Relay team (Judisch, Schoonover, Steege, and B. Suckow). Adding to their success, the Sprint Medley (Judisch, Schoonover, Steege, B. Suckow) and the 4x800 Relay (Snyder, Vsetecka, K. Suckow, Pitz), along with the 4x100 Relay (Judisch, Schoonover, Steege, B. Suckow), all earned 2nd place. Rounding out the top performances, Kendall S placed 3rd in the 1500 Meters, the Distance Medley (Jones, Land, Snyder, and K. Suckow) also finished 3rd, as did the 4x400 Relay team (Pitz, Schoonover, Judisch, and Steege). Great job to both the boys' and girls' track teams!

  •  Tonight’s Track Meet Cancelled: the safety of our athletes, spectators, and event workers remains our top priority. With the forecasted conditions, we feel it is in the best interest of everyone involved to cancel at this time.

  • Tonight’s Soccer match has been rescheduled for Friday.

  • Come cheer on our team at the soccer game tomorrow, 4/29! FBLA will be selling awesome snacks and refreshing Restored Nutrition drinks — only $5 each with a limited number! See you there!  

  • Hope Week: Help celebrate Hope Week with fun activities and dress up days! Check your email for more information.

    • Tuesday’s dress up day is Tiki Tuesday/”Beach Party Attire Requested”

  • Seniors: Meeting in the auditorium during homebase today.

  • Softball: There are no morning practices or open gyms this week. Practice officially starts next Monday at 3:30.

  • Calling all artists! Showcase your talent at the High School Art Show on Sunday, May 11th, before the Senior Awards. Bring this year’s masterpieces to Mr. Leete for display! Don't miss this chance to shine!

  • All library books must be returned by Monday, May 12th. Inventory will begin May 14th. Seniors, all library books must be returned or fees will be added to your account and must be paid before graduation or you will not be allowed to walk at commencement!

  • 🚫Attention students: Parking enforcement is now in effect. Illegally parked vehicles will be ticketed, and fines will be added to your school fees. All outstanding fees must be paid by the end of the school year to participate in graduation. Three or more parking violations will result in the loss of on-campus parking privileges.

  • Driver’s Education Courses: Students interested in taking Driver's Ed may register through Homesafe Driving School LLC for spring classes. At the top of the website, go to "Classes" and you can see winter options for classes in Waverly or if you scroll down, you'll see an option for May 14th in Sumner.🚗

  • Homebase Reminder: Check in with your homebase teacher before going to Cougar Time or any other homebase activities. Failure to do so will result in an unexcused absence.

  • 💻Please be sure you are checking your emails daily. You may be missing important information from your teachers and school administration.

  • Energy Drinks: A reminder that our school's health and wellness policy limits caffeine in beverages to 100mg. Please avoid bringing drinks exceeding this limit to school. These drinks include 12oz. Alani Energy (200mg), 16oz. Monster Energy(160mg), 12oz. Celsius(200+mg), and similar products. READ THE LABELS!

  • Fayette Co. Fair Queen: Applications for Fayette Co. Fair Queen are now open until June 30th. You do not need to be a resident of Fayette County to run. Candidates must be between 16 and 21 years old as of August 7, 2025. This is a wonderful scholarship opportunity. Please see the attached flier for more information.

  • Applications to run for Miss Fredericksburg are now open and are due May 5th. You must be 16 years old by August 1, 2025 and have a Fredericksburg address. The position comes with a $750 scholarship. Contact Marie with any questions. 319-240-4929

  • Fun in the Son Daycare in Fredericksburg is looking for help after school and on no school days. Apply at Fun in the Son.

  • Chickasaw County Fair Queen Applications are due April 30th. This is a scholarship opportunity for both the winner and runner up.

  • Lifeguards Wanted:Sumner Family Aquatic Center is looking for lifeguards! 

    • Training reimbursement! Training dates are available to choose from (but act quickly before they are no longer available)

    • You must be at least 15 years of age

    • Current guards can receive a referral bonus if their referral is hired!

Parking Reminders:

  • All students who drive to school must have a visible parking permit in any vehicle they might drive to school. Parking permit applications are available in the office. If you get a different vehicle, you need to update your parking permit.

  • Sophomore/Freshman lot-Northwest side of the building

  • Junior/Senior lot-South lot across the street

  • Senior lot-East side of the median on the east side of the building

    • NO PARKING EAST OF THE BLUE GYM, INCLUDING THE CURB BY THE GOLF COURSE. NO EXCEPTIONS!

  • Students caught parking in the staff parking or in a no-parking zone will be fined; 1st violation=$5, 2nd violation=$10, 3rd violation=On-school grounds parking privileges revoked.

  • No parking at Meadowbrook Golf & Country Club. Violators are subject to ticketing/towing
